After many decades of clinical work with individuals, families, and groups, I have come to appreciate the power of the healing principle in all of us. Every one has the capacity to grow, heal, and stabilize. A seasoned, skillful therapist guides and empowers the patient’s own innate strength and healing capacities.
Psychotherapy can be helpful to people, whether they are facing the very ordinary but very demanding problems of adult life or the extraordinary difficulties of dealing with catastrophic loss and trauma. A technique known as EMDR is one of many approaches that I have used successfully with clients in both categories.
I approach psychotherapy as a craft, informed by science, and a superb tool to facilitate growth, health, and personal mastery.
